For this year's Red Mass, we were please to welcome Professor Edward Morse, of the Thomas More Society and Creighton University's School of Law. (Basil was especially excited to see him.) At a dinner following the Red Mass, Professor Morse gave a lecture on the work of the Thomas More Society.

He spoke about the increasing need to defend the gift of life, of the family, and the freedom of religion. The Thomas More Society began when Catholic lawyers left their practices to defend life, family, and religious freedom full time.

The Red Mass, the dinner, and the lecture were all organized by law students from undCatholic. We are especially grateful to Brooke Chilla and Eliot Stoll, who saw the event through from beginning to end.

Did you ever notice that seeing the resurrection of Jesus from the dead wasn't enough for Peter and the Apostles? On the day of Pentecost, they are hiding in a locked room - scared to leave and face the crowds. What finally moved them to go out and preach the Gospel was the arrival of the Holy Spirit, visible as tongues of fire.
From November 8th through the 10th, students and missionaries from undCatholic attended "Spiritual Impact Bootcamp". This was a retreat run by the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The bootcamp is meant to focus (pun intended) on developing a relationship with the Holy Spirit, the person of the Trinity who emboldened the hearts of the Apostles to spread the Gospel.
At a time when college students are experiencing more and more fear, the Church has a unique role to play. Catholic students especially are called to notice the spiritual poverty of their fellow students and respond with persistent love. Thanks to Spiritual Impact Bootcamp, they have been given a little extra grace to ignite the fire of faith on campus.

Final Notes
- We are sad to announce that Derek Hayden, the FOCUS Missionary we featured in last month's E-News, will be leaving us after the Fall Semester. He has been asked to lead the FOCUS team at Coastal Carolina University.
- To be asked to lead a FOCUS team is a huge responsibility, and a testament to Derek's great gift for being a missionary. He goes with our prayers and gratitude. He and his wife Sarah, and their son John will be dearly missed, but we are excited to send them off to their new mission.
- This past weekend, we celebrated the first Sunday of Advent. And we had a little extra help. John, Garret, and Seth (all undCatholic alumni) returned from seminary to help us celebrate the start of the new liturgical year.
- SAVE THE DATE: On January 17th, we will be having a Hockey Watch Party at St. Anthony's in Fargo, right in the middle of Bison country. If you live in or near Fargo, please join us. Details will be forthcoming.
- Please pray for the repose of the soul of Bishop Paul Sirba. His Excellency served has served in the Diocese of Duluth for the last 10 years. He died unexpectedly at the age of 59.
