A number of our undCatholic students went on mission trips this summer through FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students).
The mission in Grenadawas 4 days of teaching the Gospel and our Catholic Faith during a summer camp for kids from 9-15 years old, along with two stops at nursing homes to visit with the residents there (one home was run by the Missionaries of Charity).
The mission in Indiawas serving the poorest of the poor by imitating the work of Mother Theresa. Work was done in a variety of homes that she established, homes for the sick, disabled, elderly and dying, finding Christ in the people they served.
The mission in Peruwas helping to build some infrastructure out of concrete and bricks, including a Marian grotto, along with playing with, and being present to, any of the children that wanted to play.
In each of these places, our students at undCatholic were able to serve and show love to those less fortunate than themselves. But all the students agree that they received more than they gave as the poor showed them what true joy was really all about.
This academic year marks 20 years since FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) first arrived at undCatholic. Please keep our missionaries in your prayers and offer some prayers of thanksgiving for all that they have done to transform the lives of students here on campus at UND!
Thank you to all of you
who help to support our mission
here at undCatholic, igniting the fire of faith
here on campus at UND!
Grant, O merciful God
that I may ardently desire,
prudently examine, truthfully acknowledge,
and perfectly accomplish
all that is pleasing to you,
for the praise and glory of
your Name.
Amen.
