When campus is a mission field...
We are thrilled to welcome 6 FOCUS missionaries to campus this year. FOCUS (The Fellowship of Catholic University Students) sends missionaries to over 170 campuses around world. Our missionaries (from left: Connor, Morgan, Derek, Luke, Madeleine, and Clare) will all be working out of the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center, leading Bible studies and meeting one-on-one with students who desire to grow in the faith. You may remember that Derek and his wife Sarah were both missionaries last year, and you may wonder where Sarah has gone to. She's still in Grand Forks, but at home with the latest FOCUS baby: John Thomas. Keep the Haydens and all our FOCUS Missionaries in your prayers.

Meet the Student Board ... serving their peers on campus.
On Monday, August 26th, the undCatholic Student Board had their first meeting of the year. Led by President Mariah Vetter, the Student Board will be in charge of many of our events and outreach here to their peers on campus. They have been busy welcoming new students at our Welcome Week meals. And they are currently planning Friday's big Street Dance. Read the E-News each month to stay up on all their activities. Medicine and God?
The University of North Dakota is home to the only medical school in the state. As such, undCatholic is home to many young men and women committed to serving God and their neighbor through the practice of medicine. Leaders of the Student Section of the Catholic Medical Association have been studying bioethics with Fr. Meyer, reading Biomedicine and Beatitude: An Introduction to Catholic Bioethics by Fr. Nicanor Austriaco.
They will be hosting weekly seminars on bioethics throughout the year, teaching their fellow students to see each human person as infinitely valuable and loved by God, even in the most complicated of circumstances.

The View From Father's Office
Monthly, in this space, we will feature some picture or timelapse Father Luke Meyer has captured from around the Newman Center. This month it is the August sky, rolling high above the facade of the chapel. Enjoy.
